Outside, a deep front porch is a throwback to earlier days when the porch was a welcoming point as well as an extra space to visit and relax. As modern neighborhoods developed, most front porches shrunk to mere landing pads. These days, older homes with large front porches, as well as some newer homes that feature craftsman or farmhouse designs, are in demand by homeowners who like to socialize with neighbors and greet visitors even before they step inside. Comfortable furnishings, overhead lighting or wall sconces that cast a welcoming glow invite visitors to sit down, relax, and stay awhile.

Can I use LED bulbs wherever I want around my home? -Jean H.

Because there are different types of LED bulbs, it does make a difference where they are used.
For example, bulbs that will be used in small, enclosed fixtures without much ventilation should be specifically designed for that type of use. Check the label for information about where and how to use each bulb.
If a dimmer will be used, make sure the bulb is labeled as dimmable.
In outdoor areas, only bulbs labeled as waterproof or for outdoor use should be used.
